Who are we?
We are a community of Light Workers founded by Sheila Morgan and Maureen Mallet and our website addresses are http://www.lightworkersway.com, http://www.thelightworkersway.online, and http://www.psychicandspiritualfestival.com. These are our official websites and we use these to provide information about our activities, articles about Spirituality, Psychic awareness and Reiki as well as share dates about our courses and festivals. We are based in Melbourne, Australia and our websites are hosted by Namecheap.com on US Data servers. By visiting or using these websites, you agree to the terms, policies and conditions set forth below. These terms and policies can be changed or updated at anytime so if you visit often please review them periodically to ensure you are still happy to use our website services.
What personal data we collect and why we collect it
To comply with the requirements of Google and add a level of security for our websites, each site has a SSL Certificate to verify its authenticity and confirm you are viewing a verified website. You will know that the website has an active certificate by looking at the URL address bar at the top of your browser and notice a green padlock symbol before the web address. We have set the website to automatically load as a secure site even if you do not enter the https address correctly.
If you sign up for our free Light Workers Way Newsletter and Updates you will be asked for your email address. This is only used for my newsletter subscription and email updates. We will not share or sell this information to anyone. We have used a double opt-in subscription since we started our Newsletter. This means you get an email to get you to confirm that you did subscribe to it yourself. You will need to click the link to authenticate this and confirm that you want to subscribe to our Newsletter and receive emails from us. As of May 21st 2018 we are using a new GDPR friendly sign-up form from MailChimp for greater clarity.
Once on our mailing list you will get regular Newsletters, email updates containing news, blog posts, tips, special offers, free gifts, book or course related promotions which includes or may be classified as marketing. By subscribing, you are agreeing that you are happy for us to send these emails.
You are free to unsubscribe at any time from our Newsletters and emails as every email contains a link to unsubscribe at the bottom.
If you sign up for the Newsletter you will also be asked for a first name. You do not have to use your real name but it will be used in the ‘To’ field of any emails sent to you. This information like your email address is private and will not be sold or shared. You can update your contact name and email address at any time through the update link at the bottom of all our emails.
We have plans to introduce the ability to make comments on various posts on our website.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
The Light Workers Way will never add your email address to our Newsletter subscription without your permission. Nor will we sell or share your email address.
If you use the Contact form to send us an email, we will not use your email address for anything other than responding to you. Your email address is private and we will not sell or share it with anyone.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
Joomla and third-party widgets/plugins and software used to operate this website may use information about visitors for analytics purposes. This could include your location, pages viewed, links clicked, downloaded files, pages or posts shared, how you came to this site and search terms for example. These are just website stats and are used anonymously. This is used to better understand our visitors, see what articles are popular and improve the content we create for you.
We also use Google Analytics to further demographic and behavioural data (how long you are on our site, what pages you viewed, what links you clicked, what browser you are using, whether you are using a mobile device or desktop, location if available), again this information is for analytics purposes to help us better understand what you prefer and want to see.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Please see the Newsletter Subscription policies at the top of this page for further details.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Data removal can only be done if it complies with AU law
Compliance With Laws
We may collect, use, retain, and share your information if we have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce our agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of our visitors, newsletter subscribers or others.
